The presenters explained that foreign companies must now enter joint ventures with 100% Tanzanian companies for certain services, requiring at least 20% local equity ownership. Mark, Russell, and other participants asked questions about the 16% government ownership requirement, the 30% share listing mandate on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange, and the impact of new regulations on foreign investment. The discussion also covered Tanzania's mining history, including how Anglo-American discoveries led to major gold mines like Barrick's operations, and current investment patterns with significant activity from China and South Africa.
