The MI Women’s Group came together in San Jose last week for its Americas meeting, bringing a strong mix of perspectives from across the network.

Set in the heart of Silicon Valley, discussions ranged from how sport and major events are shaping cities like San Jose, through to more personal reflections on career paths, leadership and the realities behind the day-to-day role. There was a practical edge throughout, including insights on shifting career paths and the evolving expectations of the legal profession, particularly around AI and increasing scrutiny from courts.

As ever with these meetings, much of the value sat beyond the formal agenda. Conversations continued over lunch and into the evening, where experiences were shared openly and connections strengthened.

Our thanks go to Hoge Fenton for hosting the meeting in San Jose. Events of this kind require real commitment, and the welcome set the tone from the outset. In particular, thank you to Christina Faryabi, Heather Larrick and Natasha Parrett, whose support and involvement made the event what it was.

We are also grateful to those who led sessions and contributed their insight, including Jen Baker, Ruth Shikada, Nora Frimann and Merri A. Baldwin.

Looking ahead
