Joint GDPR Practice Group & Global Privacy and Data Security PG Call

Please join and meet chair Global Privacy and Data Security PG Tracy Marshall (MI Member Keller and Heckman, Washington DC) and chair  Guillem València  GDPR PG (MI member firm Santiago Mediano, Madrid) for a joint call on Tuesday 13^th January 2026 at 4pm GMT. 

Stay ahead of the curve in the fast-moving world of data protection. This session will unpack the latest developments from both sides of the Atlantic — including the EU’s simplification agenda and the recent leak suggesting possible backtracking on the AI Act and GDPR. We’ll also discuss landmark enforcement actions, such as the first sanction under the AI Act by the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

From the U.S. perspective, we’ll explore the rapidly evolving patchwork of state privacy laws and the current state of federal data regulation — a must-know for international practitioners navigating compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

No matter whether you’re just starting out in your career, or a seasoned partner in your firm, all are welcome to the call offering a concise yet comprehensive look at what’s changing — and what’s next — in global data protection and data security and privacy.

And, as usual, we would also like to have a short open forum at the end for anyone to bring up topics, make new introductions, or mention issues they would like to discuss, and to suggest topics for future meetings.
