Please join Immigration Practice Group Chair Skylar Mckeith (MI member firm Mackrell, based in London https://mackrell.com/team-profiles/skylar-mckeith/ ) to catch up with other Immigration Practice Group members around the globe on 31st July 2025 10am New York time (3pm London time).

The Immigration Practice Group has not had a call for a while, and it would be a great opportunity to check-in, connect and to discuss updates and or news items and to discuss any trends with clients the practice area with the following agenda:

Skylar will provide an update on recent UK business immigration developments, including:

  • Proposed changes that would affect the long-term viability of the Skilled Worker route, including increased qualifying periods for settlement and the removal of certain roles from sponsorship eligibility.

  • The UK Government’s policy direction toward reducing net migration and how this is beginning to impact employer strategy, particularly in sectors reliant on international hires.

  • How UK-based corporate clients are responding to tightening compliance requirements and reassessing their global mobility planning.

These UK-specific issues will serve as a springboard for broader discussion. Members are invited to share how similar trends, such as more restrictive employer sponsorship schemes or settlement barriers, are emerging in their jurisdictions, and how clients are adapting.

We also encourage everyone to review the newly launched Golden Visa / Global Mobility page in advance of the call:

https://www.mackrell.net/goldenvisa

Feedback and suggestions for content additions are welcome, particularly from jurisdictions not yet represented on the page.

We would also like to have an open forum for anyone to bring up topics or issues they would like to discuss, and finally to suggest topics for further meetings, which we hope to have with more consistency and frequency going forward.
