Formal Requirements

For individuals who wish to engage in specific trade, business, or consultancy services in Kenya. Applicants must demonstrate a clear and verifiable plan for their activities and show that their involvement will contribute to the country's economic growth.

Economic Requirements

  • At least USD 100,000 Investment in a specific trade, business, or consultancy service.

  • Proof of sufficient capital or resources to sustain the proposed business.

  • Detailed business plan outlining the nature and scale of the business.

  • Evidence of potential economic benefits to Kenya, such as job creation or skill transfer.

Documentary Requirements

  • Valid passport with at least six months validity.

  • Completed and signed application form.

  • Recent passport-sized photographs.

  • Proof of registration of the investment vehicle in Kenya

  • Local bank statements showing availability of USD 100,000 in investment funds

  • A detailed cover letter addressed to the Immigration Department

  • Copy of Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) personal identification number (PIN) certificate

  • Proof of relevant qualifications or experience in the proposed field of business.

Minimum Stay Requirements

No specific minimum stay requirement, but the permit is subject to renewal based on continued compliance with initial conditions.

Ongoing Requirements

  • Annual renewal of the permit.

  • Demonstration of continuous engagement in the approved business activities.

  • Compliance with Kenyan tax laws and business regulations.

Ability to Bring in Family

Permit holders can apply for dependent passes for immediate family members (spouse and children under 18 years).

Language Requirements

No specific language requirements.
