Other investment opportunities
Visa for investors and qualified personnel.
Chile offers an investor visa for those who wish to invest foreign capital in national territory if the investment is detailed, indicating the purpose, amount and nature of the functions.
To apply for a residence permit you must:
Prove that you are a legal representative or perform managerial or senior management functions in a foreign company that seeks to invest in Chile for an amount equal to or greater than 500.000 United States dollars or its equivalent in other currencies, provided that said investment has as its objective the production of goods or services.
The foreigner must previously obtain a sponsorship letter issued by the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (INVESTCHILE).
If you are the owner or partner of a company already established in Chile, the deed of incorporation of the company and other documents that prove the movements of the company must be added to the temporary residence application.
Those who work as specialist technical personnel, hired as a dependent employee or to provide services in a company established in Chile, whose capital or assets are controlled directly or indirectly by a foreign investor who has at least 10% of the voting rights, may also apply for this type of visa.
Visa for renters
Chile allows foreigners to receive constant income derived from the exploitation of real estate or financial assets applied to temporary residence.
To apply for a residence permit based on the income the foreigner receives, you must prove that you have a valid passport (you cannot obtain a permit for longer than your valid passport).
If it is income obtained from real estate.
You must prove that, through the competent entity, the ownership of the applicant's domain with respect to the property in question has been duly legalized or apostilled.
You must demonstrate that you have a rental contract for the property, which states the obligation to pay a certain sum on a regular basis in favor of the applicant, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.
You must also include in the application the documents that prove the effective deposit of the amounts into an account in the name of the applicant holder.
If it is income obtained from financial assets.
It must be proven by the competent entity that it accounts for the applicant's ownership of the financial assets, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.
Documents that prove the income obtained, which are a direct consequence of said financial assets.
Employees, whether dependent or independent, who are going to work in Chile for less than 3 months do not need residency but must apply for a Special Work Permit for Foreigners with Temporary Permanence prior to entering Chile, since tourists in Chile are prohibited from carrying out paid activities.
It is important to consider that citizens of some countries must have a visa authorized by the Chilean consulate to enter Chile (Australia; India; Vietnam; China, Venezuela, etc.)
