Foreign nationals seeking to invest in the Belgian economy may apply for the Belgian Golden Visa (Belgium Investor Visa).
Belgium has no real estate investment options and offers "residence by investment" rather than "citizenship by investment."
Formal requirements
Belgium reviews applications on a case-by-case basis, with no specific requirements.
To obtain a residence permit for investment in Belgium, you must either start a new company or invest in an existing one. This will qualify you for a temporary residence permit.
After three years, you can apply for permanent residency.
To apply for citizenship, you must reside in Belgium for at least two additional years as a permanent resident. You will also have to pass a language test to prove that you are integrated into Belgian society.
Economic requirements
The Belgium permanent residency program does not specify a minimum investment amount.
Generally, an investment of at least 250.000-300.000 EUR is recommended to start or run a business, covering both initial and operating costs.
To achieve citizenship by naturalization, an additional investment of 100.000 to 200.000 EUR is typically required for further investment before naturalisation.
