Another way to leverage Mackrell International – and the ‘silent power’ of an international network

After the AGM in Singapore in May this year, four of our LatAm firms took the opportunity to visit Shanghai on a relationship-building and business development trip.

Aware of the high levels of Chinese investment and interest in Latin America, our ‘four amigos’, Francisco Roggero from ZBV in Argentina, Juan Tagle from Prieto in Chile, Álvaro Carrau from BKZR in Uruguay and Cesar Amendolara from Velloza in Brazil, set off to China to meet law firms and business leaders.

They were, of course, warmly welcomed by Yang Jun and his full team at Jade & Fountain, (MI member in Shanghai), who not only fed them royally, but made several business introductions for them.

Interestingly, one of the Chinese business leaders who was not available in May, subsequently reviewed the LatAm firms and their websites.  She was taken with the strength and depth of the firms and their resources and commented to Jun how impressed she was with Jun’s contacts and extensive international network.  Her company decided to engage our member firms for a matter in Latin America.

Being part of a significant, dynamic international network gives you leverage.

It shows your clients that you are connected and active where they might need it and to firms who will look after their business the way you do.  Being in touch with your peers globally also gives you perspectives and insight that make you better able to solve the business as well as the legal issues of your clients.

Do make sure you are leveraging MI to the full for your firm.
