Maung Aye

Maung is the Joint Managing Partner at Mackrell. Solicitors. He joined following corporate law positions in London and in a leading regional firm in Essex. Maung read European Legal Studies at Lancaster University and the Università degli Studi di Trento and is a fluent Italian speaker.

His expertise covers company and business acquisitions and disposals, MBOs and MBIs, joint ventures and corporate finance transactions. He frequently also advises on shareholder and partnership agreements, company reorganisations and general corporate governance issues.

On the commercial side, Maung also advises on aircraft financing and lease arrangements, IT distribution and reseller agreements and international data transfer issues.

Maung acts for clients from a diverse range of sectors, including fashion, technology, retail and travel. He also acts for a number of clients in the entertainment industry and has advised the BBC and Sky on a number of topical legal issues.

Examples of cases he has worked on include: advising a UK subsidiary of a Hong Kong-based multi-national company in the share acquisition of a niche distributor company specialising in wireless, CCTV and voice over products advising a health and wellbeing company on a joint venture with a global pharmaceutical company relating to the development of mobile applications and platforms advising multiple sellers (including corporate trustees) on the sale of shares in a securities transaction and fund administration software company to an Australian listed software company. acting as UK counsel to a US private investment firm in the share acquisition of a leading manufacturer of components for the microelectronic packaging industry.

Maung has spoken on the BBC and Sky News on various topical legal issues. He also speaks at seminars and events on a wide range of corporate law issues, including the legal aspects of due diligence, planning exit routes for shareholders and avoiding common pitfalls when buying or selling a company.
