T.P.B. Menon (Consultant, Trusts/Property)

Menon has more than 55 years of experience. He is well known for his knowledge of property and trust law, particularly trust litigation. He has contributed several articles in local Journals including an article entitled “Disputes Involving Trusts: The Singapore Experience” in the book entitled Disputes Involving Trusts edited by Nedium Peter Vogt and delivered papers at international conferences. In a speech made on the 22nd January 2011 (at the 50th Anniversary Dinner of the graduating LLB (Hons) class of 1961) Former Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong described Menon as “the most experienced property and trust lawyer in private practice”. Menon has handled a seemingly limitless list of notable cases and given an astonishing number of decisions as the President of the Strata Titles Board and the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee. It is difficult, if not impossible, to summarise his achievements. One particular award which Menon received, however, aptly describes him. In 2004, Menon was awarded The CC Tan Award. The Law Society presents this prestigious award to a member of the Society who exemplies the ideals of honesty, fair play and personal integrity. In presenting this award to Menon, Mr Philip Jeyaretnam, SC had described Menon as “the lawyer and man who represents all that is respected of our legal profession. One who does not fear to speak the truth and stand up for what is right, a man whose personal integrity is beyond reproach and embodies in his every action as a practitioner fair play, the mark of a true lawyer.”
