Kevin Peters is a 30 plus year litigator with dozens of jury trials under his belt for companies such as New Balance, Ocean Spray, Pizzeria Uno Corporation, and RE/MAX Integra, as well as small business owners victimized by larger and more powerful companies. In 2012, for instance, Kevin tried a case for three Chinatown business owners whose businesses were destroyed when their influential landlord caused their ceilings to collapse after years of abuse and inattention, putting all three owners permanently out of business. After several years of litigation and a three week jury trial, the jury returned a verdict for the business owners and the matter resolved shortly thereafter for $1.8 million.

Kevin and a team of firms represented homeowners across the country who had the misfortune of installing Goodyear radiant heating hose. Kevin won class certification for the entire region of New England – a first. Following enormous and extensive legal hurdles Kevin and his colleagues forced Goodyear to the bargaining table and resolved the suit on a nationwide basis for $320 million.

More recently, Kevin and Jennifer Henricks represented a prominent cancer researcher in a fight against Steward Health Care Systems LLC to recover enough money to put her and her team back in the business of curing cancer. Their client, Dr. Lynn Hlatky, was working on a cancer vaccine and secured the contractual support of Steward to do so. The hospital system abandoned the contract, and following a tragic but predictable series of events Dr. Hlatky’s lab was destroyed. You can read about it here in this article published in Commonwealth Magazine. The jury returned a verdict in Dr. Hlatky’s favor in the amount of $22.6 million, an amount sufficient to rebuild her lab and restart her critical research.

Kevin has been listed by Best Lawyers in America® for years as one of the best litigators in the country; he has been named by U.S. News and World Report as one of New England’s Super Lawyers® year after year; he has received the highest rating of AV® (Preeminent) from legal rating agency Martindale-Hubbell for more than two decades; he has been a Massachusetts Super Lawyer since the inception of the honor; and he has been serially listed as one of the best commercial litigators in the country by U.S. News and World Report.

Kevin has litigated cases in more than a dozen states, has tried cases in Virginia, Michigan, Nebraska, and Massachusetts, and has arbitrated numerous cases in San Francisco, Manhattan, and Boston. Kevin has also argued appeals before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, the Appeals Court of Massachusetts, the Supreme Court of New Hampshire, the Michigan Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Kevin is, first and foremost, a courtroom attorney. He never shies away from a fight and is known for his tactical and creative approaches to problem-solving. “I’ve never seen a case that shouldn’t be settled,” he will tell you, but will quickly clarify that “the best way to settle a case is to be ready to try it, and to be a known and credible threat.” And he is. Kevin is highly regarded by his peers in all aspects of litigation, but the courtroom is where he is most at home.
