Mackrell joins Web 2.0

30 January 2010

It was very exciting this past week to work with Nigel Rowley to launch the Mackrell International LinkedIn group.  The enthusiasm was palable as almost 100 members joined within the first 24 hours. LinkedIn is the social networking site for business and professionals. It uses Web 2.0 technology to permit interaction, collaboration and cross-marketing based upon the needs of its users. Facebook, the more "social" of the on-line networking sites, has grown exponentially in the past few years in order to have total users numbering more than 200 million. LinkedIn is more directed to the business needs of its users and has achieved much more manageable growth.

Having LinkedIn as a part of the Mackrell International landscape brings limitless potential to our ability to interact on a regular and consistent basis. I encourage the members to "think outside the box" when considering uses for LinkedIn. Setting up individual practice groups underneath the group umbrella has already begun.  Using LinkedIn for collaboration on individual projects can be both feasible and practical.  LinkedIn messaging to the group or to individuals is secure and easy.  Posting a picture on your LinkedIn profile allows other members to put a name to a face which always fosters an ease of communication. Maintaining accurate and current profile information allows members to find a particular attorney who meets the needs of their clients.

It was pleasure to work on this launch. I look forward to continued interaction with other Mackrell members and with my new LinkedIn connections.
