Southern Business & Development magazine has named Nexsen Pruet one of the top law firms for economic development in the South – and the only one recognized in South Carolina.

“Nexsen Pruet’s economic development team earns a spot on our list for its experience in helping new and expanding business with capital investments in North and South Carolina,” the publication writes in its winter 2008 edition.

“The firm’s attorneys have helped hundreds of companies establish manufacturing, tourism, distribution, healthcare, corporate office and other commercial facilities.

“Nexsen Pruet attorneys also excel in providing support to project coordinators and consultants in evaluating, negotiating, and documenting economic development incentives,” it continued.

The Economic Development Practice Group includes more than a dozen attorneys including Burnie Maybank, former director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue and April Lucas, former president of the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association. The group’s wealth of experience ranges from special tax arrangements, exemptions, and credits to financing, permitting, and infrastructure commitment.
