Changes at bto

29 April 2008

Expanding Scottish law firm Brechin Tindal Oatts (bto) is delighted to announce exciting new developments.

Following the adoption of a new corporate structure, current Managing Partner, Willie Young, is becoming Chairman of the firm, with Practice Manager, Douglas Cowie moving into a new Chief Executive’s role.

Wendy Thomson, Solicitor Advocate, has been promoted to Partner within the Dispute Resolution team in Edinburgh and Marieclaire Reid has become an Associate in the Commercial Property team in Glasgow.

As Chairman, Willie Young will focus on strategic issues, working closely with management to identify new business opportunities.

In his position as Chief Executive, Douglas Cowie will be responsible for the day to day running of the business in conjunction with the firm’s Management Group.

Wendy Thomson, one of bto’s ten Solicitor Advocates, will continue to appear regularly in the Supreme Courts in reparation, commercial and insolvency cases. She will support existing Partners Tony Jones and Paul Motion in the continued expansion of the firm’s Edinburgh office.

Marieclaire Reid will assist Partners Karen Brodie and James Dickson in servicing the firm’s growing portfolio of commercial property clients.

Willie Young said: “I am looking forward to my new role as Chairman. Douglas Cowie’s skills as Practice Manager have always been appreciated at bto and he will be a great asset as our Chief Executive. Wendy Thomson is a welcome addition to the Partnership, our sixth partner qualified as a Solicitor Advocate, and Marieclaire Reid’s user-friendly and thorough approach is just what our commercial clients want. These changes will enhance bto both internally and in the marketplace.”
