Another Accredited Specialist for BTO

David Hoey, Partner in Brechin Tindal Oatts’ (bto’s) employment law team, has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Employment Law. David is the second member of the team to be awarded this qualification as team head, Caroline Carr, is also an Accredited Specialist. David’s success follows his achievement in 2007 of scoring an unprecedented level of top grades in the Masters Degree in Employment Law and Practice that he was awarded with distinction by Robert Gordon University. He was promoted to Partner in bto’s employment law team in April 2007.
David, who has specialised in employment law throughout his career, advises all types of employers, from small undertakings to large plcs, and employees, particularly senior executives, on every aspect of employment law and practice at each stage of the employment relationship.
He has also been involved in some significant business transfers in both the public and private sectors and has extensive experience in advising on disciplinary issues, performance questions, ill health absences, dismissals, enforceability of restrictive covenants and compromise agreements. David has represented clients at Employment Tribunals and Employment Appeal Tribunals throughout the UK and has assisted in cases raised in the Court of Session covering issues such as unfair dismissal, unlawful deduction of wages, breach of contract, discrimination and interdicts. He works closely with bto’s team of in-house solicitor advocates and his corporate, litigation and social housing colleagues.
David is known for his user-friendly and practical approach and is a frequent speaker at training sessions for clients. He said: “I am delighted that I can advise bto’s clients in the capacity of an accredited specialist. The accreditation signifies an added assurance for our clients that they are getting pragmatic, reliable advice.”
