Brad Waring Named Honorary Danish Consul For North and South Carolina

Bradish J. (Brad) Waring, a Member (partner) in Nexsen Pruet’s Charleston office, has been appointed as the Honorary Danish Consul for North and South Carolina by decree of Her Majesty Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark.

As consul, Waring will help promote trade and business with Denmark – with a focus on the Carolinas – and assist Danish citizens with issues they may have, and services they may need while traveling in North and South Carolina; including issues relating to Danish passports. One of Waring’s first duties as consul will be to attend the third annual American Danish Business Summit in March of 2008 which will be held Los Angeles, California. The Summit, which has as its theme “Competitiveness in Action” will bring together business leaders and trade officials to compare and contrast the challenges to business competitiveness in Denmark and the United States. Waring succeeds his friend and former law partner G.L. Buist Rivers, Jr. as consul.

Waring concentrates his practice in the areas of business and consumer litigation. The outgoing president of the South Carolina Bar Association, he has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for business litigation, and earned the prestigious Compleat Lawyer Gold Award from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

He is the former chair of ALFA International, the global legal network, and is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the South Carolina and American Bar Associations, and the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Waring also served as corporate counsel to the Town of Sullivan’s Island and is vice president of the Historic Charleston Foundation.
