John Hardaway Presents at FICPI Symposium in Beijing, China

Greenville, SC — John B. Hardaway, III, a Member (partner) in Nexsen Pruet’s Greenville office, joined speakers from Europe, Asia and China at the first ever FICPI Symposium in Beijing, China. Mr. Hardaway spoke on Current Trademark Issues and Their Worldwide Significance, including dilution and protection of non-traditional trademarks. Approximately 300 Chinese intellectual property practitioners attended the sessions.

FICPI is an organization working for the interests of patent and trademark professionals worldwide, with members in 86 countries. FICPI is truly an international organization broadly representative of intellectual property practitioners and owners of intellectual property. Mr. Hardaway is the President-Elect of the U.S. Section of FICPI and sits on the FICPI Executive Council.

Hardaway, who concentrates his practice in IP and international law, is chairman-elect of the FICPI’s U.S. Section. Additionally, he served as president of the Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law Association of the Carolinas; chaired the Japanese Patent Office Liaison Council of the U.S. Bar; and chaired the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s IP Practice in Japan Committee.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Clemson, a Master of Science degree in ceramic engineering from Iowa State University. While working as an Examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he attended law school at Catholic University and obtained his J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee.
